On Motzei Shabbat, January 14, Ben Porat Yosef held a a “Glow in the Dark Havdalah Party” for early childhood students. The students, from toddlers through kindergarten, all came in their pajamas, and were able to make their own havdalah candles and besamim pouches, and decorate shema pages to keep near their beds. After the craft activities, Rabbi Ilan Acoca, BPY’s Rav Mechanech, told the students a story and led a beautiful havdalah for them, followed by shema and singing of “HaMalach Hagoel.” At the end of the evening program the children enjoyed a glow-in-the-dark party with dancing and bubbles and got their bedtime snacks. A special highlight was Rabbi Saul Zucker, newly announced Head of School, making a surprise appearance…in his pajamas.
