Jewish pride and love for Eretz Yisrael emanated throughout RKYHS as the school celebrated Yom Ha’Atzmaut! After a musical Hallel, students enjoyed the opportunity to gather with the entire JKHA/RKYHS on the outdoor recreation fields to watch the daglanut performance and join together for a schoolwide chagiga.
Activities in RKYHS throughout the day included learning Torat Yisrael with the Judaic studies faculty, listening and analyzing Israeli music with Hebrew teachers, examining the Israeli art that has been made post October 7 with history teachers, and learning about the IDF’s Purity of Arms from Joel Chasnoff. Eleventh graders had the chance to unpack and reflect on their earlier visit to the Nova Festival exhibit. Students cooled off with a visit from the shaved ice truck and the RKYHS hockey team faced off against the RKYHS varsity basketball team on the basketball court to conclude the programming at RKYHS.
Students enjoyed a BBQ sponsored by KPAC and the day ended together as a school with a unifying kumzitz together with JKHA.
