On Tuesday May 14, Tenafly Chabad Academy celebrated Israel and its rich culture while also remembering our hostages being held in Gaza.

During the day students immersed themselves in Israeli culture, making bourekas to eat as a delicious snack.Younger students played Israeli matching games and created Israeli art. Middle school students enjoyed a game show with questions on Israel and a special Israeli boot camp with Coach Nimi.

That evening students showcased their knowledge and creativity by crafting beautiful pieces for the Israel Night program. The event aimed to raise funds for a children’s program in southern Israel, benefiting families displaced after October 7.

The talented students, spanning first to eighth grade, crafted stunning stained glass pieces, mosaic tiles, jewelry and more, all inspired by Israeli themes. They also created storyboards depicting the vibrant life in the kibbutzim that were tragically attacked on October 7. These powerful pieces highlighted the community spirit and resilience of the kibbutzim before the attacks. The impressive artwork was available for purchase, with all proceeds dedicated to supporting displaced families.

The evening was further enriched with delicious Israeli snacks, adding to the vibrant cultural experience.

A special thank you goes to Morah Sari, Hebrew immersion teacher, and Morah Amy, art teacher, for their outstanding efforts. Their dedication made the night truly magical.
