On Yom Ha’Atzmaut, WDS celebrated Medinat Yisrael the only way we know how—with ruach, love and light! Students embarked on a magical journey through Israel with Shvil Yisrael programming. They explored nine special stations—Jerusalem, Beer Sheva, Kibbutz, T’verya and Kinneret, Haifa, Kiryat Shmonah, Tzfat, Yam Suf and Eilat—each meticulously arranged to represent a unique place in Eretz Yisrael. Later that day, the whole community came together for a poignant and beautiful Yom Ha’Atzmaut celebration, featuring sharim b’yachad and various meaningful activities throughout the night. Guests contributed to a communal mural with artist Moully, symbolizing unity and love for Israel, which will be displayed at WDS and at Kibbutz Alumim. They decorated rocks for the permanent WDS B’Yachad Rock Garden and expressed their hopes and support by adorning the WDS Tree of Hope with blue and white ribbons inscribed with personal messages. These activities reflect shared values and commitment, as everyoneall came together to daven for our brothers and sisters. WDS is davening for the safety of our chayalim and the safe return of our hostages. Am Yisrael Chai!
