He’Atid third-grade students showcased their hard work at the annual Ellis Island Immigration Fair! Over the past few months, the third graders have been deeply immersed in learning about the immigrant experience and understanding the trials and triumphs that many faced as they arrived at Ellis Island. They researched through text and online resources, heard from an immigrant guest speaker, and visited Ellis Island in person to experience the process firsthand.
The students were tasked with recreating the immigration process at Ellis Island. As parents navigated through the different stations, they got a glimpse of the journey millions of immigrants took. Each station represented a step in the process—just as it was at Ellis Island. Teachers and students put a tremendous amount of effort and dedication into this project-based learning unit, and their efforts truly brought history to life.
