Last Sunday, BCHSJS students were visited by INTRA (Israel National Therapeutic Riding Association) volunteer Minna Heilpern. Ms. Heilpern spoke to the students about Jerry, one of their therapeutic horses. In 2004, the tzedakah collected by BCHSJS students helped buy Jerry for INTRA. Jerry had fallen ill in recent years and was in need of medical treatment. Improving Jerry’s health has become the tzedakah project for this school year. She, along with other horses, helps Israelis with physical and mental disabilities, victims of terror and combat soldiers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury.
