This year’s theme for the Kindergarten Kabbalat Shabbat ceremony at Westchester Day School was clear: Shabbat Shel Shalom. With the backdrop of the current situation in Israel, the community feels deeply connected to the reality there. Students have found a safe and supportive environment to express their feelings about achieving lasting peace in Israel. Through discussions, they created a meaningful script. There is nothing more moving than seeing these younger children connecting to and singing for peace… Shabbat Shel Shalom. One WDS kindergarten parent said: ‘I had to reach out again to thank you for today’s Kabbalat Shabbat ceremony and in general for this year at WDS. Watching my children on the stage today was nothing short of incredible. Their growth, confidence, and love of both Judaism and learning were apparent. I brought you my babies and am getting back two children who know they’re unstoppable!’
