At WTA, everyone recognizes the importance of community, which is why the first grade focused on community from different perspectives in their culminating project, the Celebration of Writing. Over the past weeks, students had the chance to learn about different community helpers during their community field trip, visiting the local police station, fire station, grocery store and more. First graders learned in-depth about these and other parts of community, visited and donated to the local food pantry, and then to top off the experience they built their own little community in the classroom!
