Yeshivat Noam 15th Annual Dinner Honors Batya & Nachman Paul, Ilana & Azriel Rauzman, Luis Sanchez and TD Bank

Yeshivat Noam will host its 15th Annual Dinner on March 15. According to Principal Rabbi Chaim Hagler, “The School Dinner is a celebration of our accomplishments and an important fundraiser. The funds collected support the operating budget including the scholarship fund, curriculum, technology as well as professional development.”

Yeshivat Noam will be honoring distinguished volunteers and staff members whose dedication is truly remarkable. The Guests of Honor are Batya and Nachman Paul, the Faculty and Community Service Awardees are Ilana and Azriel Rauzman, Luis Sanchez will receive the Service Recognition Award and TD Bank will receive the Corporate Partnership Award.

Guests of Honor Batya and Nachman Paul are known for their leadership, dedication and generosity at Yeshivat Noam and throughout the Jewish community. Batya, raised in Monsey, New York, and Nachman, who is from Lower Merion, Pennsylvania, met each other while working for NCSY in 1992. As the proud parents of two Yeshivat Noam graduates, Debra (’11) and Stevie (’14), and two current students, Jonathan (Grade 6) and Sophia (Grade 4), the Pauls have been involved with the school since its founding. Batya was on the original Steering Committee, served as the first secretary of the executive board, and co-chaired the Middle School Interior Building Committee. She has volunteered for countless YNPA committees, and also served as co-chair for several of the Annual Dinners.

Nachman has served as a board member, vice president and, most recently, president of Yeshivat Noam from 2014-2016. In his time on the board, he developed best practices in school governance, participated in several personnel search committees, raised funds for the Annual Campaign and helped secure crucial financing for the school. Additionally, Nachman has donated his time and expertise for over 10 years overseeing legal issues for Yeshivat Noam.

In addition to their tireless work for the students and staff of Yeshivat Noam, Nachman and Batya, residents of the Teaneck/Bergenfield community for over 20 years, are involved in a myriad of organizations in the community. They help run the youth committee and volunteer at Keter Torah, where Nachman is the Gabbai during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Well known as positive ambassadors for Yeshivat Noam, both Batya and Nachman are also cheerleaders for The Frisch School, where they serve on the Board of Trustees, Nachman is vice president and Batya is the co-president of the Frisch Parents Association. Additionally, Batya regularly volunteers at Sharsheret and Nachman is vice president of American Friends of Migdal Ohr. This honor recognizes Batya and Nachman’s tremendous commitment and leadership as they continue to share their time, talent and resources with Yeshivat Noam.

Ilana and Azriel Rauzman are being honored with the Faculty and Community Service Award. Morah Ilana and Coach Azriel have been involved with Yeshivat Noam since enrolling their oldest son, Asher, in Buds 10 years ago. Morah Ilana has taught every Judaic Studies class of fifth-grade girls that have passed through Yeshivat Noam since its founding. An incredible role model for the girls, Morah Ilana has opened her home on occasions throughout the year, hosting Purim and Chanukah parties, leading Tikkun Leil Shavuot and making siyumim for her students. She created and developed the fifth-grade girls Judaic Studies curriculum and materials, deciding on which skills, content and characters to focus. For two years, she took charge of “The 100 Mile Club,” a running club that focuses on personal goals, growth and exercise. Morah Ilana is also the beloved teacher of the Matan Bat Mitzvah study group for sixth grade girls and their moms, exploring the influence of inspiring women throughout ancient Jewish history. Morah Ilana loves to teach and encourage her students to think independently and creatively about everything they learn. She makes the Torah come alive for her students, and has helped them to develop strong ties to their Jewish identities.

Coach Azi has been the Boys’ Hockey Coach since the team was first formed in 2008, leading them to the championship in 2015 and 2016. Known for his dedication and energy, Coach Azi teaches the boys about middot and sportsmanship on and off the hockey floor and shares a weekly Dvar Torah related to sports. In 2014 and 2015, Azriel and Ilana spearheaded the inaugural “Color Me Fun” color run, an innovative and exciting fundraiser for Yeshivat Noam. Currently, Azriel is an instrumental part of the Fundraising and Planning Committee for the expansion of Bergenfield’s Congregation Ohr HaTorah. The Rauzmans are members of Congregation Ohr HaTorah and are the proud parents of four Yeshivat Noam students, Asher (Grade 8), Ophir (Grade 6), Aiden (Grade 4), Mia (Grade 2) and Elisha (2 years old/Class of 2028). Their continued commitment and devotion to their Yeshivat Noam family is proudly acknowledged by this honor.

Yeshivat Noam literally could not open its doors without the hard work and tireless commitment of Luis Sanchez, who is the head of the custodial staff. Luis, who has been at Yeshivat Noam for over 10 years, never hesitates to go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure Yeshivat Noam’s campus is ready for every student and every program each and every day.

Yeshivat Noam recognizes its appreciation to TD Bank with the Corporate Partnership Award for its exceptional service in helping to secure the financial sustainability of the school. TD Bank has been a partner both in the financing of the campus and well as through their financial generosity.

The success of this event is thanks to the team of volunteers who donate their time and energy to the logistics, planning and fundraising. The Dinner co-chairs are Leora Cohen and Sharona Schulder, and the Annual Campaign co-chairs are Josh Chaitovsky, Rachel Cyrulnik and Ronnie Weinblut.

According to Abie Cohen, co-president and chair of the Development Committee, “We are grateful to all the donors that have chosen Yeshivat Noam as a recipient of their tzedakah dollars. That being said, we still have a long way to go to meet our goal. Our ability to deliver academic excellence and financial scholarships to those in need is contingent on the success of the Annual Campaign.”
