Ben Porat Yosef had the distinct honor of welcoming the Consul General of Israel, Ofir Akunis, on the significant occasion of Yom Yerushalayim. The audience to welcome the consul general included synagogue rabbis and heads of yeshiva day schools in the greater Bergen County area. The day marking the reunification of Jerusalem was made even more special by the presence of such distinguished guests.
The morning began with a beautiful choir performance of Jerusalem-themed songs by BPY’s third-grade students. Their harmonious voices filled the room, setting a joyous tone for the event. Akunis, moved by their performance, happily joined in, adding to the celebratory spirit.
Following the choir, Akunis delivered a powerful and motivational speech that resonated deeply with everyone present. His words inspired the BPY administration, Bergen County heads of school, community rabbis and community leaders who were in attendance. The speech was followed by an engaging Q&A session, where he addressed various questions and shared valuable insights.
