TABC’s Director of STEM Rabbi Aryeh Tiefenbrunn was thrilled to offer an engineering class for SINAI@TABC students this year. As an end-of-year project, the class built on their earlier learning of electronics and woodworking to create a custom electric guitar. Starting with parts from a kit, the students shaped, sanded, stained and finished the wood, then learned about electromagnetism and circuitry as they wired up all the electronic components. Once the screws were all tightened and the strings tuned up, the students were thrilled to present the guitar to TABC’s music conservatory director Jacob Spadaro as the latest addition to the Studio 1600 instrument collection!
