The newly appointed assistant rabbi of Congregation Ohav Emeth of Highland Park, Rabbi Meir Lipschitz, has hit the ground running and generated a flurry of activity in the shul. One of his proudest projects is the Davening and Donuts program every other Sunday morning, after the 8:45 a.m. minyan. The learning program is open to boys in grades five through 12 with their fathers and grandfathers, and features source sheet-driven small group discussions on issues in Jewish learning.
On the Sunday before Shavuot, the topic was “Shavuos and Talmud Torah,” and 13 sets of fathers and sons (and one grandfather) gathered in the social hall of the shul for spirited discussions.
