TBO/BBO Senior Girls Championship

Spiders and Dr. Rachel Jacobs Dumont Dentist Tooth Fairies cap off exciting season.

(TBO) After a season filled with competitive match-ups and hard work, the TBO/BBO senior girls softball season reached a pinnacle as the Spiders and Tooth Fairies faced off in the championship game Monday night after winning their respective semifinal games on Father’s Day. Both teams felt the mounting anticipation after fiercely contested regular season battles, including a regular season match ending in a 4-4 tie.

The Spiders earned the top seed with a 7-1-1 record in the regular season. They faced the Flying Squirrels in the semifinals matchup. The Spiders relied on solid pitching from Tehila and Maayan Teitelman while Ariella Kieffer had her biggest hit of the season in the bottom of the fifth, a three-run shot over the outfielders’ heads. Hailey Jesin hit a two-run home run for the Flying Squirrels but the Spiders held on to win 7-3 and advance to the championship.

Seeded as the number two team, the Dr. Rachel Jacobs Dumont Dentist Tooth Fairies reached  the championships with a thrilling walk-off win against the Hamsters in the semi-final game. Terrific pitching from Molly Jacobs and Dahlia Angel kept the Tooth Fairies in that game, tied at 6-6 going into the bottom of the sixth. Leora Fisher caught a great game, making two outs at home plate. With the bases loaded, Emily Chaitovsky drilled a line drive into center field to send the Tooth Fairies to the championship.

In the championship, the Spiders jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and added a few more runs with timely hits by Tamar Swinken, Delia Zaretsky and Menucha Shaffren to take a 6-0 lead. The Tooth Fairies scored a couple of runs in the fourth and fifth innings with great hitting by Suri Stadtmauer, Eliana Luber, and Leora Wasserman. With the score 6-2 in the top of the sixth, the Tooth Fairies had another chance to score after strong at-bats by Leora Fisher and Jordana Lowe, but they came up a little short. The Tooth Fairies played hard all season, improving each week with consistent practices and a never-quit attitude. Coaches Brian Jacobs, Harold Luber and Chaim Stadtmauer are very proud of the kindness and friendship they showed each other all season.

The Spiders enjoyed significant contributions from every player on their roster helping to pull off the championship victory!

Yakira Gamss made remarkable stops in center field, preventing potential doubles and triples. Nava Rosman showed resilience at the plate, consistently getting on base at crucial moments with RBIs and making smart plays in the outfield. Kieffer, a versatile player at first, third and outfield, saved her very best for last, driving in the most runs in the playoffs. Daniella Bernstein excelled on both offense and defense, playing catcher superbly while supporting and encouraging the pitchers.

Lauren Weisberg demonstrated her exceptional skill with great stretches and tough plays at first base, and showcased her prowess at the plate. Sadie Ritter, with her infectious positive attitude, tracked balls effortlessly in the outfield, making it hard for spectators to believe it was her first softball season. Tamar Swinkin used her incredible speed to maintain a high on-base percentage and made all the key plays at third base.

Delia Zaretsky dazzled with her outstanding dexterity at second base and her formidable hitting power. Menucha Shaffren excelled in the outfield and delivered many impactful hits. Maayan shone as both pitcher and shortstop, keeping her composure even with bases loaded. Tehila added speed on the mound, delivering needed strikeouts under pressure.

Spider coaches Avi Weisberg, Tzachi Rosman and Howie Teitelman were privileged to watch the players improve throughout the spring.

The teams expressed their gratitude to the dedicated parents and family members who came out to cheer on the girls. Special thanks go to the committed board members, especially Aharon Goldwasser, Brian Jacobs and Jeff Bernstein, whose tremendous efforts made the season enjoyable for everyone involved. Looking forward to welcoming the girls back next spring for another memorable season!
