Camp Regesg Braves come back to beat the La Cucina di Nava Reds.
(YYL) Watermelon and (purple!) team spirit made for an amazing Camp Regesh Braves championship game this past Sunday against the La Cucina Di Nava Reds. Following a near perfect season in the YYL Junior Girls division, the Braves gave it their all to win the championship and marked their victory with a complimentary ice cream party for both teams. As the last playoff game of the schedule, the seats were packed with parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings and friends, and the game on Sunday was a nail-biter with each team slowly taking and then losing the lead. The game came down to the final at bat, where a force-out at third ended the Reds’ chances of pushing it to a bottom-of-the-sixth scenario, and clinched a 10-9 win for the Camp Regesh Braves.
This year has been full of incredible unity and teamwork from a group of girls, many of whom had never met each other. It didn’t take long before all 13 girls—coming from Englewood, Bergenfield, Passaic, Teaneck and Fair Lawn and Tenafly—bonded and built a unique and beautiful team filled with positive vibes and unity. The season was full of many exciting moments including home runs and even grand slams, and every single player saw improvement with both batting and fielding. Thank you to the amazing coaches and families for helping our girls learn to play as a team. The 2024 YYL Camp Regesh Braves were: Molly Dimond, Yael Gilder, Gabriella Gorelik, Jacqueline Gorelik, Reyna Hoenig, Mae Lieberman, Sasha Lieberman, Daniella Safran, Chaya Sears, Tehillah Shor, Shira Simon, Liya Stock and Kira Weingarten—all winners off and on the field.
