Thank you for spotlighting the Yavneh Healthy Tech Initiative. We are excited to report that in just the first few weeks since the launch of the Pledge, parents of hundreds of Yavneh students have committed to delay offering their children smartphones and social media until after 8th grade. Many grades are approaching or even exceeding 50% participation, and more parents are signing on each day.
It is very clear: Yavneh parents who choose to delay giving their children smartphones and social media can now feel confident that their child will have plenty of classmates doing the same. This incredible feat is a testament to our amazing school community.
This initiative speaks to the power of collective action. When we work together we can have a huge impact and create cultural change. At the same time, it brings to mind the lesson of Dr. Seuss’s Horton Hears a Who—every single voice matters in achieving a common goal. Each additional parent who joins the movement increases the impact and motivates others.
We invite the broader Bergen County community to partner with us in offering our children a smartphone-free childhood! Anyone who would like to connect and learn more can email us at [email protected].
