The Jewish Link and The Humble Toast would like to recognize Lizzie Scharf as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. Lizzie has been described as the heart and soul of the CMEK Girls Grade 5 Club team for the past several years. This particular season, she raised her game to an elite level and led them to the spring league championship (also won in fall). When asked about Lizzie, CMEK’s Chad Mekles told The Jewish Link, “Her playoff performance was nothing short of spectacular. In the semifinal, trailing 18-16 with under a minute to go, she made arguably the most amazing shot in our program’s history (a 3-pointer and got fouled; hit the free throw). It proved to be the game-winner as we held on to win 20-18. In the final, she saved her best for last: 14 points, four rebounds and three steals.”
