Congregation Israel of Springfield will honor seven outstanding community leaders when it holds its 42nd Annual Dinner on Tuesday, March 21, at 6:30 p.m., at the Crystal Plaza in Livingston.
The dinner will pay tribute to guests of honor Sam and Rebecca Alexander, recipients of the Rabbi Israel E. Turner Memorial Award, in recognition of their decades of service to the synagogue and the Springfield community. Mr. Alexander is a member of the Board of Trustees and one of the gabbaim of the congregation; Mrs. Alexander is a longtime sisterhood member and synagogue supporter.
In addition, the synagogue will honor Miryam and Dr. Josh Smilow with the Young Leadership Award; Sherry Stein with the Aishet Chayil Award; David Kohn, Esq. with the Edward Konigsberg Award; and Sara Alexander with the Joseph Tammam Memorial Youth Community Service Scholarship Award.
