Eitan (Eitan ben Rut Idit), 37, and Yair (Yair ben Rut Idit), 45, Horn were abducted by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7 from Yair’s home in Kibbutz Nir Oz.

Eitan and Yair, and their brother, Amos, are sons of a true woman of valor, Ruti Strum. Ruti emigrated from Argentina to Israel twice: once in 1977 and again in 2013, when she was reunited with her three sons.

Yair is a valued member of the Nir Oz community, organizing all holidays and celebrations. “He even does stand-up, radio broadcasting and manages the local pub at Nir Oz,” said Ruti. Eitan is an informal educator who has worked with youth groups and served as an emissary in Peru.

“I am strong alone,” Ruti says, “but the entire nation is with me. It is what gives me that strength, embraces me, and this is why I can push forward.”
