Just as TABC breaks ground on the Rabbi Yosef Adler Building and prepares for its physical expansion, the school is proud to announce the hiring of several new faculty members.

Rabbi Yisrael Apfel,
Limudei Kodesh Faculty

Rabbi Yisrael Apfel joins the limudei kodesh faculty as a Gemara rebbe and sophomore grade dean. Rabbi Apfel grew up in Teaneck and learned for two years in Yeshivat Shaalvim and Mir Yerushalayim followed by four years at YU under Rav Yaakov Neuburger. He received semicha from RIETS and a certificate in pastoral counseling from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. He then learned for three years in the Beren Kollel Elyon under Rav Michael Rosensweig and Rav Mordechai Willig. He joins TABC from MTA where he served as a rebbe, grade dean and athletic director for the last four years. Rabbi Apfel also runs the learning program at Camp Slapshots, giving morning shiur and running night seder for the sports staff. Rabbi Apfel lives in Passaic with wife, Shayna, and their five children.

According to TABC’s Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Joshua Kahn, “One of the most unique things about Rabbi Apfel is that he is as adept at giving a top shiur as he is a grade level shiur, and in each case takes complex topics and explains them in a clear manner so his students can understand them.”

Rabbi Yoni Stone,
Limudei Kodesh Faculty

Joining him on the limudei kodesh faculty is Rabbi Yoni Stone ‘11. A Teaneck native and proud alumnus of TABC, he is the second Stone brother to join TABC’s superstar team of rebbeim. After graduating TABC, Rabbi Stone studied at Shaalvim for two years and continued on to YU, where he too learned under Rabbi Yaakov Neuberger. Rabbi Stone has been a co-owner of the extraordinarily popular TABC Jr Hockey League for the past eight years. In addition to his teaching responsibilities at TABC, Rabbi Stone will serve as a freshman grade dean and join the admissions team, having served as MTA’s director of admissions for the last five years.

“Through his years in admissions and running Jr Hockey, Rabbi Stone has demonstrated his ability to connect with kids, while thinking strategically about how to develop programs and initiatives that resonate with them,” Rabbi Kahn said.

Shoshana Schultz, History Department Co-Head

TABC is thrilled to welcome Mrs. Shoshana Schultz as the co-head of the history department and history teacher. After relocating to Bergenfield from Woodmere in 2020 with her husband, Yosef, and their four sons, Mrs. Schultz began working at Yavneh Academy where she taught social studies at both the elementary and middle school levels.

A graduate of Brooklyn College’s Scholars Program, Schultz holds an undergraduate degree in philosophy and other fields, with a secondary concentration in Jewish history. She is currently pursuing a master’s in Jewish education at the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration. Mrs. Schultz is passionate about creating dynamic learning experiences through experiential and immersive activities. Her student-centered educational philosophy is focused on designing pedagogical strategies that cater to students’ diverse learning styles and distinctive abilities.

“Mrs. Schultz brings a breadth and depth of subject expertise and a keen sense of educational pedagogy which will stimulate our students in the classroom and lead our colleagues in innovative approaches to the teaching of history,” TABC’s Head of School Rabbi Shlomo Stochel said.

Together with their dynamic and impressive colleagues, these new hires are poised to build on TABC’s tradition of excellence and commitment to Torah, academics, and its legendary student life.
