In an attempt to “set the record straight” (“Setting the Record Straight,” September 5, 2024), Michael Rogovin’s approaches fail the test. The author spends several paragraphs opining on whether she is a legitimate or genuine presidential candidate. The argument is specious and the fact remains that she is the candidate, like it or not. That said, she was the most progressive liberal in the Senate (even to the left of Sanders and Warren), whose short term included not one legislative authorship; pro-BLM; soft on crime; and anti-police, ICE and corporate America.
With that poor record as a senator, her record as VP is even worse. She failed her only given task of securing the border and has no experience or competence in domestic, foreign and economic affairs. Her only proven record is her propensity for “word salads” when questioned by the media.
If further out-of-control federal spending, wealth taxes and wokeness are in your interests, then go with the Democrats. If border controls, lower taxes, and facing up to our foreign enemies are in your worldview then go with that someone who, despite all his idiotic foibles, faults and imperfections, can bring America back to the glory days. It’s straightforward.
