Heichal HaTorah Basketball Teams Make the Playoffs

Heichal Hatorah, which is only completing its fourth year of operation, has placed both its varsity and junior varsity basketball teams in the playoffs for the Young Israel league. The varsity, coached by first year coach, Zev Senter, completed a highly successful season coming in third place. This year, it has both juniors and seniors on the team. Many the members of last year’s junior varsity team that made it to the league championship game after it upset the number two seed team, are on the varsity. The team is led by junior Daniel Aaron, onetime Jewish Link of New Jersey and Gotham Burger Sportstar of the Week, Binny Senter and a group of hard working student-athletes and bnei torah. They will play the sixth seeded team in the first round.

The junior varsity, coached for the second year by Ira Jaskoll, also came in third place and will play the sixth seeded Harborview team, whom they defeated twice during the season, in the first round. The Heichal team is led by tri-captains Leibel Weiss, Joey Blum and Dovey Mandel, and Yehuda Spivak, Eli Sudwerts, Nathan Sragow, and a group of hardworking ninth and tenth graders who have been practicing since September. The team is looking to have another successful playoff run.

Heichal Hatorah”s varsity and junior varsity basketball teams have quietly made a mark for themselves and the school in a very short period of time. We wish them success in the playoffs.
