After starting off the season with two tough losses, MTA’s tennis team came out swinging on Tuesday night against SAR, determined to get their first victory. Led by strong performances from #1 Singles Josh Zyskind and #3 Singles Gabe Isaacs, MTA gained an early two matches to one advantage. Needing one of their doubles teams to win to claim victory, #2 Doubles team Chanina Rothenberg and Yedidya Schechter, with expert placement and smart shot-making, dispatched their opponents 10-5 in tightly-contested games. #1 Doubles team Ezra Wildes and Dani Lobel also grinded out an impressive 11-9 win, cementing MTA’s victory 4-1. Coach Eli Gewirtz praised his players after the match saying, “I cannot have been more proud of the way we played tonight. SAR is a very tough team so this win shows how far we have come as a team.”
