This week, Yavneh Academy, fifth grade students participated in a special yom iyun and kickball game to “kick-off” their new school year as leaders of the lower school! In small groups led by teachers, students studied this week’s parsha, focusing on the theme of “when they go low, we go high.” This theme emerges from a pasuk in the parsha that teaches us not to hate Edom and Egypt. Teachers and students discussed how, as Jews, responding to hate with empathy helps create a more peaceful world. The kickball game that followed was filled with great sportsmanship and fun!
