Last week, Leffell School ninth graders kicked off their shabbaton with a day of service at Mount Richmond Cemetery in connection with the Hebrew Free Burial Association. Students used teamwork to remove fallen branches and debris from the cemetery, performing the truest form of volunteering, chesed shel emet (true kindness), in which recipients can never repay the chesed they have received.
