Mr. Liben (“Middle East Politics and the US Election” September 9, 2024)), again ignores the elephant in the room. Democrat voters are not supportive of Israel. According to a July 2024 Gallup poll, a paltry 23% of Democrats support military action in Gaza compared to 76% of Republicans.

This is the reason weapons were withheld from Israel and why Israel was pressured to end the war to remove Hamas by the Biden/Harris administration. This is why Harris chose Walz, who commented about anti-Israel Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, “When I’m having a tough day… I just think Ilhan Omar’s a congresswoman and it just brightens you up,” instead of Governor Josh Shapiro. Walz also praised, hosted (five times) and funded Imam Asad Zaman who shared neo-Nazi and anti-Israel propaganda.

On August 31 the Washington Post reported that Harris “could be open to imposing conditions on some aid to Israel” and that “she would be open to challenging Israel more directly.”

To make matters worse, Phillip Gordon is likely to be Harris’s national security
advisor. He co-authored several pro-Iranian articles with Pentagon official Ariane Tabatabai, who is a member of the Iran Experts Initiative (IEI). The IEI helped push through the 2015 Iran deal (JCPOA) in coordination with Iran’s Foreign Ministry. Gordon was also a speaker at two National Iranian American Council (NIAC) conferences. The NIAC is another Iranian regime influence group.

As long as Democrat voters are anti-Israel, Democrat politicians will mirror their views. It’s really that simple. Quoting Harris’s platitudes about Israel will not change that reality. If you want to vote Democrat because you support zero restrictions on abortion or because you think climate change will destroy the world, knock yourself out, but don’t make believe that Harris and Democrats are as supportive of Israel as Republicans.
