As a lifelong Democrat and long-time Teaneck resident, I, like many others, was frustrated to learn that the TDMC handpicked and restricted the candidates invited to their upcoming board of education candidate forum. (Kudos to the League of Women Voters for their excellent event engaging all candidates in an open forum, allowing citizens to learn and ask questions of those seeking to represent us and shape the future.)
While there was a recent movement to realign our township’s nonpartisan municipal and board of education elections with the hyper politicized November election day, it is evident that this was not in the best interests of our children. Instead of championing the best candidates to prioritize opportunities and highlight successes for the district and our scholars, the committee chose to blindly endorse and provide a platform to the status quo.
Jenni Levy is unquestionably the most qualified candidate on the ballot. Jenni has lived in Teaneck for more than 24 years and is a current district parent. She is an attorney practicing education, family and personal injury law in Bergen and Passaic counties, working to ensure equality for all students and access to required services. She has extensive classroom experience and licenses as a social studies teacher, K-6 elementary education teacher, K-12 supervisor, and principal. She has evaluated and received formal training on the Wilson and Orton-Gillingham reading curriculum systems. Jenni is also a former member of the NJEA, giving her a proven focus to deliver quality professional development for educators and enrich public education.
I welcome you to visit votejenniferlevy.com to learn why Jenni is the best and only choice for Teaneck’s kids, community and transparency.
