Hundreds Expected at Third Annual OHEL Xtreme Challenge Classic

Embracing sweat but no tears, from ages 6 to 60+ years, a record number of men, women, families, students and OHEL individuals—everyone of different abilities, will once again be a part of oXc, the one-of-a-kind mud-run-style obstacle race at OHEL’s beautiful Camp Kaylie in Wurtsboro, New York, to be held on Sunday.

What draws so many to OHEL Children’s Home and Family Services Xtreme Challenge Classic? It is an Xtreme challenge for an Xtremely great cause!

OHEL’s oXc Classic provides that unique opportunity for participants to challenge their own bodies and test their limits, all while helping others—supporting children and adults with disabilities who face greater challenges every day. At OHEL, we help thousands of individuals every day overcome different personal struggles they may face—from abuse to depression, disability to divorce.

Participants will test their limits, whether running, climbing, jumping or crawling and muscling their way through the Xtremely awesome 35-obstacle, 5-mile individual or 1.5-mile family obstacle course. Separate start times/waves for elite, men, women, teams and families are available.

Alan Secter, OHEL’s chief development officer, comments, “Early registration this year has been phenomenal! Thanks to a generous bonus match from an anonymous donor, we are on course to raise an additional $100,000 once we reach 500 registrants! There is still time to register for an event that really enthuses all across generations. We have many three-generation teams, father-son teams, mom-son and daughters teams.”

OHEL thanks the dedicated oXc co-chairs—Ben Englander, Phil Goldfeder, Aryeh Jacobson, Etan Kestenbaum, Yehudah Konig, Rachel Rosenberg and Jeffrey Schwartz—whose vision and leadership have enabled OHEL to raise critical funds to help the most vulnerable in our community.

Whether you are an avid sportsman, a social jogger, looking for an extraordinary achievement to add to your bucket list or just wish to cheer others along, we encourage you to be part of this Xtremely fun day!

By joining OHEL’s oXc Classic, you will be supporting others in need towards crossing the finish line for medals and swag, enjoying a delicious BBQ, while together celebrating the different abilities of us all.

A special thanks to gyms—Move U Fitness in Brooklyn, FIT Studio and Avid Fitness in Five Towns and Underground Training in Tenafly—for providing free training to all oXc participants.

Bus transportation is available for participants from Brooklyn, Five Towns, Queens and Teaneck, by reservation.
