“It was a trip that they will never forget,” was how Bruriah Junior High Coordinator Zehava Greenwald described last week’s visit to the New Jersey State Bar Association by the school’s eighth grade.
Earlier in the year, the class participated in the association-sponsored Law Adventure contest, under the leadership of their English teacher Ms. Reichenberg. Through constructing a mock trial, students learned about the court system, examined different types of court cases and explored various legal realities. Last week’s visit was a culmination of the project and Bruriah students were empowered to take the stand as jurors while other schools conducted trials of their own.
“Our students felt enlightened and enriched as they all learned a lot from this educational hands-on experience,” enthused Greenwald. “The enthusiasm was felt by all, especially our seventh graders who are set on winning the contest next year!”
