As the TABC community followed the news in Israel on October 1, its collective thoughts and tefilot were, as always, with our brothers and sisters in Israel. As Iran rained down rockets on our beloved homeland, the entire student body and faculty joined together in the beit knesset to recite Tehillim for Am Yisrael and a special mishebeirach for our chayalim. On October 7, TABC joined with Heichal HaTorah and MTA for a morning of special learning of Shas Mishnayot l’zecher nishmat all who have fallen over the past year. The program continued at Heichal HaTorah with words by Rabbi Daniel Kalish about the importance of unity and community during this time and a special kumzitz with Simcha Leiner. At a school wide Mincha, Israel Advocacy Club faculty leader Dassi Silverman unveiled two new initiatives for Israel. First, each student received a card with a hostage’s picture to put in their tefillin bag, so they can put a face to the name and daven for them in a meaningful way. Second, there will be special initiatives throughout the week for students to feel a connection to Eretz Yisrael and Am Yisrael during these difficult times. May Am Yisrael overcome our enemies and may these collective tefillot be answered for a peaceful new year.
