Dr. Luchins Presents To Bruriah Seniors

Last week, seniors had the privilege of hearing from Dr. Luchins, founding dean of Lander College for Women and longtime friend of Bruriah High School, about the ongoing antisemitism in the world. Dr. Luchins spoke about what he calls the “new-antisemitism,” the anti-semitism of old but adorned in new clothing. He began by comparing the first time antisemitism was seen in the Torah to how antisemitism appears now. Just like Esav’s angel had different forms when fighting with Yaakov, so too antisemitism today comes in different forms. Dr. Luchins also spoke about the upcoming presidential election and its relevance on the Jewish community today. Senior Leeba Pariser said that Dr. Luchins’s message regarding careful discernment was eye-opening, “To learn that what we see on the Internet can alter our own perceptions as Jews as well as the world views us.”
