Heichal HaTorah is once again spearheading a dynamic and productive program for the community. Beginning now, pairs of chavrusas can sign up at www.mishnathon.org to sponsor and learn two perakim of mishnayos over Shavuos and the coming weeks. Then, on Wednesday evening, June 14, all chavrusas will join together in the Heichal ballroom to review their learning, then celebrate with a siyum and barbecue dinner.
“We thought this would be a wonderful way to commemorate the season of Matan Torah,” explains Heichal Rosh Yeshiva and Dean Rav Aryeh Stechler, “by gathering together hundreds of people to complete Shas [mishnayos] in one hour. The idea was to create something big in a small space, to combine limud haTorah with a sense of achdus, demonstrating our love for both Hashem and the Jewish people.”
The learning will begin with Rav Y.Y. Jacobson, rosh yeshiva of theyeshiva.net, learning the opening mishnah, and will conclude with Rav Aharon Kahn, rosh yeshiva at RIETS, learning the last mishnah and making the Hadran. Along with the barbecue dinner will be singing and dancing led by world-renowned Eitan Katz.
“The heart of the evening will be the kol Torah of over 250 pairs of chavrusos—fathers and sons, grandfathers and grandsons, friends—all learning together,” Rav Stechler adds. “We believe that this will be the largest beis midrash learning in the history of Bergen County, an experience that should inspire our youth and our community to continue learning and to be mesayeim Shas on their own.”
The siyum will take place on Wednesday, June 14, at 7 p.m. at Heichal HaTorah, 70 Sterling Place, Teaneck, NJ 07666. To sign up and sponsor, go to www.mishnathon.org. For sponsorship opportunities and further information, please call the yeshiva office at (201) 335-0633 or email Rav Stechler at [email protected].
