Ma’ayanot Offers Exceptional Co-Curricular Opportunities

Ma’ayanot recognizes each student as a unique individual and provides a great range of opportunities for students to enrich their entire selves. In addition to outstanding academics, Ma’ayanot offers approximately 60 co-curricular activities for students to “develop and expand their skills, talents and interests beyond the classroom,” said Rabbi Zev Prince, assistant principal for Co-Curricular Life. Co-curricular opportunities include 13 sports teams, on which over half of Ma’ayanot students play; 16 student committees, which have student representatives from each grade who work with faculty advisors to develop programs and initiatives for their peers; 14 clubs, where students meet to cultivate a vast variety of interests; 10 academic teams, such as Speech and Debate, Model UN, Mock Trial, Torah Bowl and Science Olympiad; six publications, with opportunities to share news, opinions, creative writing and divrei Torah; and three blockbuster student productions: winter musical, spring play and Heartbeats, which features the talents of over 200 students in song and dance, while raising thousands of dollars for tzedaka.

The range of co-curricular opportunities reaches students with interests in Torah, Israel, chesed and community service, political action, sports, music, performing arts and STEAM. Almost 100% of students are involved in a Ma’ayanot activity. At Ma’ayanot’s Student Life Fair, upperclassmen showcased co-curricular opportunities to freshmen and sophomores. Students learned how to create and introduce new clubs to the Ma’ayanot community. Freshmen appreciated learning about all the meaningful opportunities at Ma’ayanot, and signed up for activities that interested them. Junior Adina Schneck shared that “Ma’ayanot cares about what students think and gives us time to create and run our own clubs. We have so many opportunities to take part in something truly run by students!” Ma’ayanot’s investment in helping each student “be, become, belong” inspires each student to be her best self and become part of the Ma’ayanot family.
