Bergen County CHADD Expert Speaker Series presents “Listening and Learning: Designing ADHD Research that Matters to Women,” with Julia Schechter, PhD, on Monday, November 4 beginning at 8 p.m. on Zoom.

Being a girl or woman with ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) is associated with significant and unique challenges. Yet, most ADHD resources and research have focused primarily on boys and men. Understanding how ADHD presents and impacts girls and women over the lifespan is essential to guide the future of ADHD research.

Dr. Schechter will discuss the work and research findings of Duke Center for Girls and Women with ADHD, a program dedicated to advancing knowledge about ADHD in girls and women, where she leads the Center’s education, outreach and research initiatives.

Dr. Julia Schechter is a licensed clinical psychologist, assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Duke University School of Medicine, and co-founder and co-director of the Duke Center for Girls and Women with ADHD, the nation’s first program housed within an academic institution focused specifically on ADHD in girls and women. She has an MA and PhD from Emory University, and did her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Duke University Medical Center prior to becoming a faculty member at the Duke ADHD Program.
