A large, silver Shabbat hanging lamp from Turin crafted around 1820, showcases the extraordinary artistry characteristic of Italian silversmiths. The 15 oil spouts are arranged in a star shape and detailed floral and leaf motifs adorn all the elements. Suspended by ornate cast chains, the lamp was lit in the center of the home or over the Shabbos table. The item’s prestigious provenance adds another layer to its significance, having passed through Christie’s in 1984 and later included in the Toporowitch Collection.
Other fascinating and stunning items include a variety of antique silver menorahs, unique matzah redlers, a miniature silver megillah holder and an unusual vessel used to wash the hands of the Kohanim.
