The parents of Lubavitch on the Palisades students in second through sixth grades were treated to a night of presentations, artwork and a musical performance. The main room highlighted projects and portfolios from the classrooms. Students were told to pick something that they were especially proud of; they explained their work and the process they used. Of special mention were the plant and animal cell projects and the phases of mitosis projects presented by sixth grade. Third graders showed off their portfolios from the year as well as books they had written. Second graders presented their animal reports and projects. Fourth graders worked in partners to create a business plan and product—Shark Tank comes to LPS! Fifth graders read “Number the Stars” by Lois Lowry. The students explored poetry and their reflections about this powerful novel.

The next room was set up like an art gallery. Morah Estyn, art teacher and resident curator, created an exhibit that was as professional and beautiful as that of a museum. Artists depicted were Van Gogh, Picasso, Keith Haring, Matisse and several others. Visitors were very impressed by the wonderful artwork and the student’s knowledge of artists and art terms.

Finally, the evening ended with a musical performance led by Sharon Kinstlinger. Students in second through fifth grades sang songs and played recorders and ukuleles. Rebecca Rich, fifth grader, was the only student so far who received a black belt in her recorder learning. She had a solo and was very proud!

The evening was a true reflection of all of the amazing things that happen at LPS every day.
