Coach Alweis and the second place Titans.

(BGFF) This past Sunday, November 17, the Bergen County Girls Flag Football League wrapped up its fall season with championship games in three divisions.

In the Camp Sholom grades two-four division, the top-seeded Seahawks faced off against the surprising #3 seed, the Chiefs. The Seahawks came out strong, scoring a touchdown on their opening drive and never looked back. Their defense was nearly impenetrable, working seamlessly to pull difficult flags and almost shutting out the Chiefs. On offense, the Seahawks soared, scoring four receiving touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns, showing off their strong hands in the air and impressive cut-back moves on the ground. Final score: Seahawks 44, Chiefs 6. The Seahawks’ commitment to weekly practices and teamwork made all the difference. Congratulations to Peyton, Gigi, Abigail, Maddie, Ellie and Savi on an exceptional season!

Coach Marcus and the champion Cowboys.

In the Team Goffstein-Fairway Mortgage fifth grade division, the undefeated Cowboys took on the #3 seeded Titans in what turned out to be the game of the day. The lead changed hands an incredible six times in this instant classic. Mia Bella Alweis led the Titans at quarterback, delivering her best performance of the season, while Tali Kalina contributed three touchdowns for the Titans. In the end, the Titans needed a two-point conversion to tie, but Cowboys’ defensive star Rifka Samuel intercepted the pass and ran out the clock to secure the win. Final score: Cowboys 26, Titans 24. Both teams deserve credit for a thrilling game and for giving their all on the field.

The Bears: 6/8 champions!

In the Mount Royal Construction grades six-eight division, the top-seeded Bears faced off against the high-flying #3 Falcons. The Falcons had been dominant in the playoffs, but the Bears showed flashes of brilliance throughout the season, making them tough to beat. Emma Carmen was one of the standout players for the Bears, who clinched the championship with a 40-12 victory.

Falcons: 6/8 runners up.
