The Westchester Day School fifth-eighth graders had a meaningful Veterans Day Assembly last Friday. Martin Askowitz, great grandfather of sixth grader Judah, spoke to students about his experience in the Air Force. Students also learned about the service of many veterans connected to the community and watched some video messages from veterans to whom students wrote cards. The program ended with an inspiring Zoom presentation by Sergeant Jason Nunez. Students asked questions about his 16 years of service in the marines and were excited to see the K9 unit he trains.
Thank you to all who organized written thank-you cards from first-eighth grade students to veterans connected to the WDS community for this program.
