On Tuesday, July 25, from 9:00-11:00 a.m., Bikur Cholim Chesed Organization will host a task-force breakfast on compassionate person-centered care for NY/NJ nursing home administrators, assistant administrators and owners at Bikur Cholim. The focus of this annual gathering will be on special approaches for residents with cognitive impairment and Holocaust survivors.
Guest presenters Donny Tuchman, chief operating officer, Cobble Hill LifeCare, and Ann Wyatt, manager of palliative & residential Care, CaringKind (formerly Alzheimer’s Association, NYC Chapter), will speak on “Comfort Matters: Cost-Effective Quality Care for Residents with Advanced Dementia.” The pilot of this NYC initiative resulted in greatly improved staff and family satisfaction, decreased resident hospitalizations, reduced use of psychotropic medication and the elimination of sundowning symptoms.
