During the month of Cheshvan, JEC students focused on using the “power of silence” to focus on what’s going on around them and take notice of those in need. The students learned about the skill of empathy with Morah Kayla, using “buddy vision” to really see those around us, whether by noticing who is sitting alone or not participating in recess, or looking at others’ body language and really listening to what the other person is trying to communicate. Students practiced the skill of reading body language by playing a game of charades and participated in a 10-day long program to reinforce acts of “buddy vision.” The program culminated with a Buddy Bash to celebrate all the acts of empathy and kindness shown. As this month’s theme wrapped up, students enjoyed an amazing Silent DJ program with Digital Dov! Thank you to Morah Kayla and Dr. Dobin for helping to reinforce this theme throughout the month of Cheshvan.
