RPRY fourth-grade engineers leveraged the scientific method and the properties of physics as they engaged in their first robotics module. They began by building a simple mechanical car and documenting forces. They observed the changes in velocity that occurred when they changed gear ratios and added a rubber band to create a supercar. Next, they iterated again, this time trying to add a motor and documenting the changes to their speed. Students have to collaborate, trial, redo and trial in multiple iterations in their quest for a sturdier and faster vehicle! More challenges await as they will explore other scientific concepts in their upcoming builds. These modules prepare students to transition to the building, coding and challenges of more advanced robotics!
