To commemorate September 11, Yeshivat He’Atid middle schoolers heard from Charlie Steinel, a former fire captain at the Hudson Regional Fire Department who was heavily involved in the cleanup. In addition to his story, Captain Steinel relayed some very important lessons to the students, such as the importance of maintaining proper priorities (and the role of tragedy in that), respecting the humanity of every person and the value of self-sacrifice. After his speech, Captain Steinel was presented with the commemorative 9/11 flag which was raised on a flagpole to be kept at school. It was a meaningful morning for all those involved.
