TCA Middle School Offers STEAM Classes

The Tenafly Chabad Academy middle school is fortunate to attend weekly dedicated STEAM classes, starting this year. To begin the semester, each class participated in a building challenge. The rules were simple: the classes were split into teams. Using two flat materials, tape and newspaper, they were challenged to build the tallest free-standing tower they could in the 45 minutes allotted. Working together, each team discovered ingenious ways to fold, roll, stack and tape the newspaper. Each grade had a winning team: Avital Rovner and Rebecca Max for eighth grade, Baer Cheslow, Leael Avni and Jacob Avni for seventh grade, Sefi Schwartz and Chanina Nussbaum for sixth grade, and Mindy Rutman, Eleaya Jacob, Ella Nagel and Racheli Yabra for fifth grade. The tallest tower of the challenge was Sefi Schwartz and Chanina Nussbaum of sixth grade at 91 inches! The students learned valuable lessons about building, weight distribution, creativity, patience and teamwork. This challenge was an incredible start to what promises to be an exciting year of learning at TCA!
