Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

One Million Viewers See George Washington Bridge Menorah

(Courtesy of Bris Avrohom) For the 12th consecutive year, Bris Avrohom placed five menorahs at the George Washington Bridge (GWB), the busiest crossing in the United States.

Prior to lighting the menorah, Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky addressed those who attended the menorah lighting ceremony and explained the meaning of Chanukah and the miracles we celebrate. Rabbi Kanelsky then presented a menorah to Luis Franco, the general manager of the GWB.

The largest of the five menorahs was erected on the upper level and was sponsored by Vlad and Tatyana German. The Germans invited their friends to join in the ceremony, many of whom had the opportunity to don tefillin and receive a menorah for the holiday. A light breakfast was served followed by lighting the menorah. The next menorah was erected at the lower level and was sponsored by Elisa and Alan Pines. Their son, Rabbi Jason Pines, attended the ceremony, along with their grandchildren. At the Palisades entrance another prominent menorah was placed, sponsored by the Kahane and Pomerantz families. Jason Kahane and his son were honored with lighting that menorah.
