Rabbi Pesach Raymon Yeshiva (RPRY) held a lively pre-Chanukah celebration on Monday afternoon, Dec. 23, for the entire school ages 2-13. Featuring “Thank You Hashem,” an organization connecting thousands of Jews united by the joy of thanking Hashem, the celebration included trivia contests, swag, prizes, Instagram sensation “Yid on the Street” (Yaakov Galin), and featured musical artist Mendy Worch for a fun afternoon.

The excitement in the halls of the Edison school was evident as the featured entertainment came in to set up. According to Head of School Rabbi Michael Ribalt, “Thank You Hashem is a wonderful organization that recognizes that Hashem gives us gifts and loves us every moment of our lives. We have to acknowledge this fact—even if we don’t see it or take things for granted. This is a great way to welcome the Chanukah season that in itself has a history full of hidden and visible miracles.”

Jordan Kaplan, president of the school board, saw the event as a complement or enhancement to the culture and environment of the school. “The rabbis and teachers put out an energy that is synergistically enhanced by the enthusiasm of the students. The energy and love of learning is brought forth to the community now and into the future. We are grateful for parent (and RPRY alum) Ami Avraham for presenting us with this opportunity.”

Students decked out with “Thank You Hashem” T-shirts, hats, sweatshirts and other attire danced their hearts out thanking Hashem. “In RPRY we are trying to create moments for our students that will stay with them the rest of their lives. Being a proud part of the Jewish community and having a strong connection to Hashem is vitally important in this day and age. Giving our students the education and strong awareness of Hashem’s blessing is an important part of their education.,” said Rabbi Ribalt.
