It was a pleasure for us, as co-publisher and editor, respectively, of The Jewish Link, to be present last Thursday as our colleague, friend and co-publisher, Mayor Mark (Mendy) Schwartz was sworn in to serve as mayor of Teaneck for the 2025-2026 term.
We know, as do many others, that Mendy quite literally lives to serve others. His work in Teaneck, to better the lives of every member of our entire and diverse community, has been seen, heard and felt by many of us here in Teaneck and beyond. It is a joy to call him a colleague and an honor, for us both, to count him as a valued friend.
We were especially gratified to see that the vote to elect the mayor of Teaneck within the council was unanimous; 7 to 0. We feel that this heralds a new era of intercommunal harmony and an end to a very divisive era. We wish nothing but the best to our council members and deputy mayors on their elections and appointments.
We extend best wishes as well to Deputy Mayors I and II, Karen Orgen and Denise Belcher.
We look forward to publicizing Teaneck’s civic accomplishments, the township in which The Jewish Link was founded and continues to serve as our home base, and continuing to work with everyone in collaboration and unity, for many years to come.
