(Courtesy of TABC Sports) The TABC Varsity Basketball team traveled to Brooklyn on Motzei Shabbos to take on last year’s league champions Magen David. The Storm were hoping to go into winter vacation on a high note, knowing a win would keep them as the top contenders for the first seed in the Western Conference.
Off the opening tip, the team was cruising into high gear, going on a 10-0 run and forcing the Warriors to take a timeout. After TABC played one of their best quarters of basketball of the season, only allowing six points and looking like they were well on their way to a comfortable victory, Magen David punched right back, going on a 12-0 run and outscoring the Storm 20-9 to take a surprising one-point heading into the halftime locker room.
To start the second half, Bentzion Keiser ’25 hit a midrange jumper to reclaim the Storm lead. The Warriors kept coming right back, but Dovid Saks ’25 knocked down some key jumpers to fuel the Storm. Suddenly, treys from Saks, Yonah Mandel ’25 and Yonatan Faber ’26 carried the Storm back to a double-digit lead heading into the final frame. TABC ensured there was no Magen David comeback this time. Akiva Borgen ’26 and Eyal Kinderlehrer ’25 went into closer mode and the Storm ended up winning by a final score of 62-48. The Storm offensive attack was very balanced throughout with four players reaching double figures (Kinderlehrer 13, Saks 12, Mandel 11 and Borgen 10). After the game, players and their families celebrated with pizza in Boro Park. TABC now heads into winter break atop their conference with an 11-1 record.
