I’m deeply grateful for the community support as I assume the role of Teaneck Deputy Mayor II and continue as a Class 3 member of the Planning Board. Your support is not just appreciated, but it is also integral to our shared vision for a positive Teaneck. In partnership with Mayor Mark Schwartz, Deputy Mayor I Karen Orgen, and our entire Council, I’m determined to work toward building a positive Teaneck brand that benefits every resident. Leadership is about service, vision and collaboration; your role as a supporting resident cannot be overstated.
As Deputy Mayor II, I envision supporting the Council in governing the township as united leaders. It is essential to have shared goals, communicate a clear vision, and foster the confidence and unity needed to achieve sustainable success. Your inclusion and participation in this collective effort are what will make our shared vision a reality.
Teaneck is known for its diversity and coming together regardless of race, ethnicity, religion or gender. We are fortunate to live in a town where racism, discrimination and prejudice are not tolerated. As duly elected leaders, we must call out and dismantle the harmful and divisive acts when and if they occur. As it is said, hatred has no home here in the township of Teaneck. While we may not always agree, we can agree to disagree with integrity and professionalism as we govern for the betterment of our town and residents.
This month, we celebrate the profound legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,
a visionary leader and champion of justice, equality and peaceful protest. It is of utmost importance to note that quoting and honoring Dr. King while perpetuating hateful or discriminatory actions or restricting peaceful protest is hypocrisy and an insult to his lifelong work against injustice. Dr. King’s daughter, Rev. Bernice King, reminds us that quoting his words means nothing if we fail to do the work necessary to realize his vision.
I am committed to governing for meaningful and positive changes in Teaneck—leading with integrity, respect and the unwavering pursuit of justice for all. This commitment to justice is not just a promise but a guarantee that your rights and well-being will always be at the forefront of my decisions.
