Last week, WTA middle school students participated in a meaningful, hands-on program designed to deepen their understanding of the significance of Asarah B’Tevet. Through immersive storytelling, they journeyed through pivotal moments in Jewish history: experiencing the hardships of a Jew during the siege of Yerushalayim, the resilience of a Holocaust survivor and the challenges faced by the chachamim who translated the Torah.
As part of the program, students learned Masechet Avot in memory of those lost, honoring Yom HaKaddish HaKlali with heartfelt reflection and respect. The experience culminated in a powerful Lifnai V’Lifnim-style limmud on tefillah—an innovative educational model that fosters deep connections between individuals, with Torah and with Hashem—that emphasized the unique role of prayer on a fast day and encouraged students to strengthen their connection with Hashem.
This experiential program not only brought the history and meaning of Asarah B’Tevet to life but also inspired our students to carry its lessons forward in their own lives.
