The students in fourth grade at JKHA took a studio art field trip to the New York Botanical Gardens to see the Chihuly installation. As an extension of the fourth grade units on both shape and color, students were introduced to the art of glassblowing and to large scale installation works made completely out of glass. While at the gardens, students participated in both a tour of the works and a hands-on workshop. Art teacher Rachel Margolies is looking forward to returning to the studio with the fourth grade students and discussing and implementing new student-driven ideas from the trip, as they continue with the building of their Chihuly-inspired installation at JKHA.
