TABC’s AP biology students investigated enzyme activity in a three day series of labs with new science teacher, Esther Ruskin. They began by performing an experiment to observe how salivary enzymes break down starch into sugar. Next, they worked together to measure how efficiently catalytic enzymes break down toxic chemicals in our cells. They then worked in groups to design and perform their own experiments to analyze optimal pH and temperature conditions for these enzymes. The students had a great hands on experience and are now learning one of the most important parts of any science experiment—namely, how to critically analyze their results! TABC is proud to offer a diverse selection of AP courses, preparing our students for college and beyond.
